# Register with BCBS Mississippi out of network

> Follow the non-participating provider registration steps for BCBS Mississippi and confirm your practice and clinician records.

## Before you start

Use this guide when Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi (BCBSMS) is a required Local / Host Plan for your practice or claim-service location. Its application can establish a non-network provider number without requesting network participation.

If registration is incomplete, claims can be delayed. Not sure which plan applies? First [identify your required Local / Host Plan](/help/claims/bcbs-reimbursement-and-registration#find-and-register-with-your-local-/-host-plan). Registration is separate from joining a network.

## Choose the non-network application

<Steps>
  <Step title="Select the clinician's provider type">
    Open [BCBSMS Provider Application](https://www.bcbsms.com/im-a-provider/provider-network-application). Under **Choose Provider Type**, select the clinician's actual profession.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose Non-network">
    Under **Network Choice**, select **Non-network (for electronic claims submission and payments)**. Do not select BCBSMS, AHS, or both network options if you intend to remain out of network.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Read the checklist before continuing">
    Review the displayed checklist and use **Download PDF Version of Provider Checklist** if needed. BCBSMS requires a **CAQH profile** for this application, including the non-network route. Complete the checklist for your actual provider type.

    For example, its [non-network Licensed Professional Counselor checklist](https://webstatic.bcbsms.com/pdf/provider/LC-NN.pdf) asks for current Mississippi licensure, an up-to-date CAQH profile with BCBSMS access, tax-ID evidence, electronic claims capability, and ACH enrollment. Other professions must follow their own checklists.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Complete the application with your practice information">
    After reviewing the checklist, use **CONTINUE** when available. Supply the actual billing-practice and clinician information and requested documents. If you are adding clinicians to a group and the association process is unclear, ask BCBSMS for instructions before submitting.

    Do not guess a Thrizer clearinghouse, technical contact, or banking authorization. Ask the payer how any electronic-payment requirement applies to your non-network record. It does not enable Thrizer Pay or BCBS client direct-deposit reimbursement.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Existing records and confirmation

If you already have a provider record, ask BCBSMS which maintenance process applies rather than creating a duplicate. Existing network providers use **myBlue Provider** for updates.

Keep the submission confirmation and wait for the payer to approve the provider number. Seeing a provider type in the menu does not confirm that the payer recognizes every license level in that profession.

## What happens next

Once each required plan confirms registration and the required clinician associations are active, [notify Thrizer support and review what happens next](/help/claims/bcbs-reimbursement-and-registration#registration-confirmed-next-steps).

The payer controls registration and claim decisions. Registration does not guarantee reimbursement or recognition of every clinician category. For associate, pre-licensed, or supervised clinicians, ask the payer about recognition and review [Thrizer's supported claim structure](/help/claims/bcbs-reimbursement-and-registration#associate-pre-licensed-or-supervised-clinicians).
