Start with the estimate and the claim result

A reimbursement estimate helps your client plan; it is not a promise of savings or a final claim decision. Insurance determines the allowed amount, deductible application, reimbursement, and processing time. Clinicians, staff, practice administrators, and team owners with the relevant client and viewing permissions can open Clinician Portal → Clients → select the client → Insurance to review available benefits. To discuss a processed session, open the client’s Claims tab and view the claim details, including the result and any amount applied to the deductible. If your account cannot access a view, ask an authorized practice team member to check it. Your client can review their benefit information under Client Portal → Settings → Insurance plan and their claim under Client Portal → Claims → select Claim #. A benefit check and a processed claim describe different stages. The client obtains the insurer’s Explanation of Benefits (EOB) from the insurer or its member portal. See Check reimbursement and EOB access when the insurer sends payment directly to the member.

Explain the amount without promising a result

The estimate starts with the lower of your session fee and the insurer’s allowed amount, then applies any remaining deductible and coinsurance. A client’s coinsurance percentage alone is not their total session responsibility. See Deductibles, coinsurance, and allowed amounts for the complete calculation and Reimbursement basics for how estimates relate to actual claim outcomes. Current Thrizer fees are explained in the Pricing overview. An Approved claim can pay money, apply entirely to the deductible with no reimbursement, or both finish meeting the deductible and pay a partial reimbursement. Check the result rather than treating the status label as proof that money has been sent.

If the estimate or deductible information looks wrong

Compare the benefit information with the client’s current insurer records and the result for the specific claim. A new benefit check can return different information, and the insurer can recognize a different allowed amount when it processes the claim. Your practice can use Recheck benefits from the client’s Insurance tab. Your client can use Recheck Benefits on their Insurance plan page. If the result is incomplete or conflicts with the insurer’s records, follow Checking client benefits for manual verification or contact Support through your account. For the current deductible balance or an explanation of how a processed claim was applied, the client should contact the insurer. Plans can use separate in-network and out-of-network deductibles, and insurer records can lag behind recently processed claims. The session fee is not automatically the amount credited to the deductible.

Where reimbursement goes

Check the Reimbursement Method for the session before asking the client to add a bank account or wait for a deposit.
  • Check: The insurer sends any reimbursement directly to the member. The client checks the mailing address with the insurer.
  • Bank: Reimbursement routed through Thrizer goes to the client’s linked reimbursement bank.
  • Instant Reimbursement: Insurance reimbursement goes to Thrizer because Thrizer advanced part of the session amount. The client should not expect that reimbursement as a bank deposit; their final responsibility can change after the insurer’s decision.
See Reimbursement methods for the complete method, eligibility, and payer-specific explanation. Adding a bank in Thrizer does not redirect an insurer-issued check.

If reimbursement has not arrived

First identify whether insurance is still processing the claim, the claim paid no reimbursement, or a payment is already on its way. Approval and an available Explanation of Benefits do not prove that reimbursement or the Thrizer account update is complete. Use Claims processing timeline for insurer processing. For a Bank-method payment already on its way, use Client reimbursement bank setup and missing deposits for bank setup, deposit timing, and an earlier failed transfer. For a Check-method payment, the client follows up with the insurer about check delivery. You and your client can each contact Support through your own Thrizer account about a claim or reimbursement that needs review.

What you can share with your client

Use this when a client asks why a claim result differs from their estimate.
The amount shown before insurance processes your claim is an estimate. Your insurer decides the final amount and how much applies to your deductible, so an approved claim can still pay no reimbursement. You can review the claim under Claims. Let me know which result looks different from the estimate, or contact Support through your account. Your insurer can confirm your current deductible balance.
