# Unsupported workflows and limitations

> Understand Thrizer product limitations around charges, claims, payment methods, account changes, team payouts, and insurance processes.

## Overview

This page summarizes what Thrizer does not support.

## Payment limitations

Thrizer does not support:

* Splitting one session charge across multiple payment methods
* Reassigning a completed charge to a different payment method
* Automatically retrying failed charges
* Direct ACH or bank-account payment for session charges (charges require a saved card)
* Submitting a charge from the Clinician Portal with a session rate above \$2,500

If a payment fails, the charge fails and no claim is submitted. Add or update the client payment method before retrying.

Charges above the \$2,500 session-rate cap require prior review. Contact Thrizer support so a Thrizer administrator can process the charge on your behalf. See [Charging clients](/help/clinician/charge-clients#charge-amount-limit) for details.

## Claim and billing limitations

Thrizer does not support:

* Combining multiple charges into one claim
* Combining unrelated CPT services into one claim
* Submitting no-show or cancellation fees to insurance
* Applying Thrizer Pay retroactively to past sessions
* Billing insurance for sessions more than one calendar day ahead (OON Pay and Thrizer Pay require a Date of Service of today or tomorrow UTC)

Each charge corresponds to one claim. Each charge supports one primary CPT code; add-on or extension units of the same underlying service may be included with the primary code.

For full claim and billing limitations, see [Claim and billing limitations](/help/claims/claim-and-billing-limitations).

## Insurance limitations

Thrizer supports primary insurance only. Secondary insurance and coordination of benefits are not supported.

## Account limitations

Thrizer account email addresses cannot be edited after account creation. Client and clinician accounts are separate account types and cannot be merged, converted, or repurposed into each other. You can use the same email address to create both a client account and a clinician account. The two accounts remain fully separate — data, history, and connections do not transfer between them. Team and practice role controls (such as Practice Role or Change Role) manage permissions within an account and do not convert an account from one type to another.

An email address can be associated with only one Thrizer team at a time. If you need the same person on more than one team, use a separate email or contact support.

Thrizer does not offer self-service account deletion — send deletion requests to support.

## Team payout limitations

A team has one payout bank account. Thrizer does not automatically split payouts between clinicians within a team.

## Thrizer's role and failed payments

Thrizer operates as a payment infrastructure layer, similar to a payment processor. Thrizer processes supported charges, sends payouts, and submits claims where the payment type supports claim submission.

Thrizer does not act as a collections service. Clinicians are responsible for collecting and maintaining valid client payment methods and for following up with the client when a charge fails. Thrizer does not automatically retry failed charges.

## Workarounds

Some operational workarounds require support review. Workarounds do not change the underlying product limitation and do not guarantee insurer acceptance, reimbursement, or claim approval.
