# Thrizer explained in one page

> How Thrizer helps private-pay practices collect payments and offer out-of-network billing support.

Thrizer is a payment platform designed for private-pay practices, with automated out-of-network billing built in. Use it to collect payments, check benefit estimates, and submit and track eligible claims.

Your practice offers the billing support. Thrizer gives you the tools to provide it, while you shape the client experience and decide how to price the service.

## How Thrizer works

Choose the billing arrangement that fits the session:

* **Self-Pay:** your client pays the full Service amount. Thrizer doesn't submit an insurance claim.
* **OON Billing:** a successful charge starts claim submission when the billing requirements are met. With Check or Bank, the client pays the full Service amount upfront. Eligible clients using Instant Reimbursement pay an estimated amount plus the applicable fee, while Thrizer advances the rest to you.

The [billing options](/help/payments/billing-types) and [reimbursement methods](/help/payments/reimbursement-methods) explain eligibility, upfront payments, and where reimbursement goes. See [pricing and effective dates](/help/payments/pricing-overview) for the applicable fee schedule.

## What this means for your practice

You can manage payments and out-of-network billing together: add clients, check benefits, charge for sessions, and review payments and claims in the Clinician Portal. The public [benefits Widget](/help/widget/widget-overview) also helps prospective clients explore estimated costs before intake.

Clients can use their own portal to review information or complete a task when needed. Registration isn't required for every billing arrangement; some actions, such as adding a bank for Bank reimbursement, belong to the client.

Your client's insurer decides coverage and reimbursement. Benefit estimates help you discuss likely costs, but they aren't guarantees.
