> ## Documentation Index > Fetch the complete documentation index at: https://docs.thrizer.com/llms.txt > Use this file to discover all available pages before exploring further. # Reimbursement methods for OON Billing > Compare Check, Bank, and Instant Reimbursement and understand how insurance reimbursement is handled. ## What a Reimbursement Method means When the Billing Type is OON Billing, the Reimbursement Method answers: **How will reimbursement be handled after the insurer processes the claim?** Thrizer shows only the methods supported for the client's plan. Availability can change based on the plan, verified benefits, deductible status, claim history, and other eligibility rules. ## Compare the methods | Method | What the client pays when charged | Where reimbursement goes | | ------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **Check** | The full Service amount | The insurer mails a check directly to the client/member. | | **Bank** | The full Service amount | Reimbursement routes through Thrizer to the client's linked reimbursement bank account. | | **Instant Reimbursement** | Estimated responsibility plus the applicable Instant Reimbursement fee | Thrizer receives insurer reimbursement after advancing the rest of the Service amount to the clinician. | Exact current fees are maintained in the [Pricing overview](/help/payments/pricing-overview). ## Check The insurer mails the reimbursement check using the member mailing address in its own records. Thrizer does not collect, view, verify, update, redirect, or confirm the address the insurer uses. The client should confirm or update that address directly through the insurer's portal or member services. Changing an address in Thrizer does not change the insurer's mailing record. For a direct-to-member check, the client should also obtain the Explanation of Benefits from the insurer or insurer portal. ## Bank When the plan supports Bank reimbursement, insurance reimbursement routes through Thrizer to the client's linked reimbursement bank account. It is not returned to the card used to pay for the Service. The insurer still controls the final reimbursement amount and adjudication timing. ## Instant Reimbursement With Instant Reimbursement, the client pays an estimated out-of-pocket responsibility plus the applicable fee. Thrizer advances the remaining Service amount to the clinician before the claim outcome is known and later reconciles with the insurer's reimbursement. “Instant” describes the clinician payment experience. The insurer still processes the claim on its normal timeline. Instant Reimbursement has additional requirements and may not be available for every client or plan. ## Where to choose a Reimbursement Method * For the client's saved setup, open **Clinician Portal → Clients**, select the client, and stay on **Overview**. In the **Clinician** section, select **Edit**, set **Billing type** to **OON Billing**, then choose the **Reimbursement method**. * For one charge, open **Add Charge**, set **Billing Type** to **OON Billing**, and choose from the Reimbursement Methods shown for that client and charge. ## Related articles Decide whether a claim will be submitted.
