Updates

New claims now use your practice’s Mailing Address when it is complete

If your Practice Settings has a complete Mailing Address (street, city, state, and ZIP), Thrizer now uses that address as the practice address on new claims. If the Mailing Address is blank or incomplete, claims continue to use your Business Address, exactly as before. Who this affects: practices that have filled in the optional Mailing Address field in Practice Settings, and any practice that wants its claims correspondence sent to an address different from its legal business address. Why it matters: the practice address on a claim is the address payers use for paper correspondence, denials, and paper checks. Using your Mailing Address lets you keep your legal Business Address on file for tax forms while sending claim-related mail to a different location, such as a PO Box or a billing office. What to do:
  • If you want claim correspondence to go to a different address than your legal business address, open Practice Settings and fill in Mailing Address with a complete street, city, state, and ZIP. See Settings and profile.
  • Leave Mailing Address blank if you want claims to keep using your Business Address. The Mailing Address field remains optional.
  • Claims created before this update keep the address they were originally stamped with. Only new claims (and claims that are recreated) use the updated address preference.

Sole-proprietor practices now submit the clinician’s name as the billing name

When a payer is set to bill claims under your practice (Qualifier 85) and your practice has no group NPI on file, Thrizer now submits the rendering clinician’s full name (“First Last”) as the billing name on the claim, alongside the clinician’s Individual NPI. Practice-level details that are not person-specific, such as Tax ID, address, and taxonomy, continue to come from your practice. Practices that do have a group NPI are unaffected: those claims continue to submit the practice name with the group NPI, exactly as before. Who this affects: sole-proprietor practices and other practices billing under the practice on at least one payer without a Type-2 group NPI in Practice Settings. Why it matters: many payers reject a Type-1 (individual) NPI paired with a business name on the billing line, or route the payment or the 1099 incorrectly. Sending the clinician’s own name with their Individual NPI matches what those payers expect and reduces rejections. What to do:
  • If your practice has a Type-2 group NPI, add it in Practice Settings so claims continue to bill under the practice name. See Settings and profile.
  • If your practice does not have a group NPI, no action is needed. Confirm that the First name and Last name on the rendering clinician’s profile are the legal names you want on claims. That is what payers will now see as the billing name.
  • Claims created before this update keep the billing identity they were originally stamped with. Only new claims (and claims that are recreated) use the updated billing name. If you need an older claim resubmitted with the corrected name, contact Thrizer support.
For more on how claims are assembled, see How to submit a claim.

1099-K errors now explain when a Team Owner is missing

When a practice does not have a Team Owner assigned, the 1099-K error on the clinician profile now shows a dedicated card that names the fix directly: assign a Team Owner from Team members → Change Role → Team Owner. Previously the same situation showed a generic error, which was easy to read as a system problem. Who this affects: practices that have not yet elected a Team Owner. Thrizer cannot generate a 1099-K for a practice until one is assigned. Why it matters: the Team Owner is the person named as the payee on the practice’s 1099-K. If your practice has more than one active administrator, Thrizer will not guess which one to file under, so the form is held until you pick. What to do: if you see the “a Team Owner must be selected” card on a clinician’s profile, open Team members, select Change Role on the person who should be the payee, and select Team Owner. See Team members and 1099-K tax forms.

Payout Report now flags rows with no Team Owner

The Export CSV dialog in the Payout Report now explains that the Practice Owner Email column will be blank for any practice that has not yet elected a Team Owner. Rows with no eligible recipient are also tagged with a No Recipient badge and are counted under a Skipped total at the top of the report. Who this affects: finance and operations staff reviewing payout reports. Why it matters: a blank Practice Owner Email used to look like a data problem. It now reflects a real setup gap that needs to be resolved in the practice, and the report tells you exactly how many rows are affected so you can plan the follow-up. What to do: if a payout report shows a No Recipient badge or blank Practice Owner Email, ask that practice to assign a Team Owner from Team members → Change Role → Team Owner. Once the owner is elected, the next report will fill the row in automatically.
