Overview
When you create an OON Pay or Thrizer Pay charge, the session’s Date of Service must be today or tomorrow. This is a calendar-date rule, not a rolling 24-hour window. Sessions two or more calendar days out cannot be charged as OON Pay or Thrizer Pay. This rule lets you charge the day before a session without submitting a claim to insurance for a session that hasn’t happened yet.Why does Thrizer allow tomorrow’s date at all?
If your practice policy is to charge the client the day before the session, Thrizer supports that. When you create a charge for tomorrow’s Date of Service, Thrizer processes the payment right away. Thrizer holds the resulting claim until the Date of Service is no longer in the future. You can collect payment on your normal schedule, and the claim is never sent to insurance with a future date.Why can’t I bill further out than tomorrow?
Insurance carriers do not accept claims for dates of service that have not yet occurred. Submitting a claim for a session two or more calendar days in the future would either be rejected by the payer or misrepresent when care was delivered. To keep every submitted claim accurate, Thrizer blocks OON Pay and Thrizer Pay charges where the Date of Service is more than one calendar day ahead.What about no-shows or cancellations after I’ve already charged?
A claim for a tomorrow-dated session is held until after the Date of Service passes. That gives you a window to correct the charge if the client cancels or does not attend. If a session does not happen after a charge has been created, refund or adjust the charge as soon as possible. No. Self-Pay charges do not generate an insurance claim, so the Date of Service restriction that protects claim accuracy does not apply in the same way. The today-or-tomorrow rule is specific to OON Pay and Thrizer Pay, where a claim is submitted to insurance.Related articles
