Start with your service location

For BCBS claims through Thrizer, use the practice or claim-service location used for billing, not your client’s home address or the plan on their insurance card. If telehealth or multiple billing locations make the location unclear, ask the relevant Blue Plans’ provider teams before submitting registration information. This is an index of available Thrizer registration guides, not a complete list of Blue companies. A guide listed for a state may apply only in part of that state. Follow the location notes below and the service-area instructions in the guide. When two companies serve your actual location, plan to register with both separately. Jump to A–H · I–M · N–S · T–W

Use the BCBSA company directory to identify Blue company names in your state. Its ZIP finder is for member resources, not provider-registration requirements. Ask BlueCard provider services or the companies’ provider teams which Local / Host Plans serve your practice or claim-service location, especially if the state is absent above or a service-area boundary is unclear. For each required company without a Thrizer guide, sign in to Availity Essentials, open Payer Spaces, and look for its non-participating-provider registration process. If you cannot find one, ask the payer how to create a first-time nonparticipating practice record under your TIN and NPIs.
For an Availity-based route, complete both steps: register for Availity Essentials access if your practice does not already have it, and separately register the practice and applicable clinicians with each required Local / Host Blue Plan. An Availity account or Payer Space access alone does not complete the plan’s provider registration. If the plan directs you to a form or another route, follow its instructions instead.
After each required plan confirms that your practice record and clinician affiliations are active, notify Thrizer and review the next steps.
