Short answer

Thrizer is a payment platform for private-pay practices with embedded out-of-network billing support. You can use Thrizer as your centralized payment platform for private-pay sessions, whether a client is paying fully out of pocket or using out-of-network benefits. Clients can check benefits during onboarding and get support with out-of-network billing when applicable, but using insurance is not required.

Simple way to describe Thrizer

You can use this short explanation in consult calls, emails, or FAQs:
I use Thrizer as my payment platform for private-pay sessions. If you have out-of-network benefits, Thrizer can also help check your benefits, estimate your session cost, and submit eligible out-of-network claims after sessions are charged. Any cost or reimbursement estimate is based on available benefit information, and the final outcome is determined by your insurance plan.

I am a private-pay provider. I use Thrizer as my payment platform for private-pay sessions. If you have out-of-network benefits, Thrizer can also help make the out-of-network billing process easier. Through Thrizer, you can check your estimated out-of-network benefits, see an estimated session cost, pay for sessions, and have eligible out-of-network claims submitted for you. If your plan reimburses for out-of-network care, reimbursement is determined by your insurance after the claim is processed. If you are eligible, you may also have the option to pay an estimated upfront amount instead of paying my full session fee and waiting for reimbursement. I am a private-pay provider, so I do not bill insurance directly. I use Thrizer as my payment platform for sessions. If your plan has out-of-network benefits, Thrizer can also help check your estimated benefits, estimate your session cost, and submit eligible out-of-network claims after sessions are charged. Any reimbursement is determined by your insurance after the claim is processed, so the benefit check is not a guarantee. If you have your insurance card handy, we can check your estimated out-of-network benefits.

If the plan needs manual verification

Your insurance plan may need manual verification before we can estimate your out-of-network benefits. Please send the front and back of your insurance card and your date of birth, and we can use that information to help verify your benefits. Once verification is complete, we can share the available estimate for your out-of-network coverage and expected session cost.

  • Thrizer Pay: If eligible, you pay an estimated upfront amount, and Thrizer advances the rest of the session fee.
  • Self-Pay: You pay the full session fee, and no insurance claim is submitted.

What to avoid saying

Avoid language that may sound like a guarantee. Instead of:
  • “Your insurance will reimburse you”
  • “You will save money”
  • “Thrizer confirms your coverage”
  • “Thrizer submits superbills automatically”
  • “You will pay a reduced fee”
Use:
  • “Your plan may include out-of-network benefits”
  • “Thrizer can estimate your session cost”
  • “Your insurance determines the final outcome”
  • “Thrizer can submit eligible out-of-network claims”
  • “You may be able to pay an estimated upfront amount, if eligible”
