Start here

For clinicians and practice administrators in Massachusetts. First confirm the Blue Plan for your practice or claim-service location. Use the location used for billing, not your client’s home plan. If you need a new practice record, confirm the first-time registration process with the payer. The public resources below do not establish a complete application for every out-of-network practice.

Choose your next step

  • Starting for the first time or unsure? Check with the payer whether your practice already has a record under the same tax ID and service location, then follow the steps below for the record you need.
  • Adding a clinician to an existing practice? Ask the payer how to add the clinician, complete any required individual enrollment, and link them to the existing practice. Do not create a new practice just to add a clinician.
  • Already submitted, waiting for approval? Check your pending registration using the submission reference. Do not send a duplicate application unless the payer asks you to.
  • Practice and required clinician affiliations confirmed active? Notify Thrizer Support.

Before you start

Have your practice’s legal name, tax ID (EIN/TIN), service address, and each clinician’s rendering NPI and license information ready. Use details that match Thrizer. The practice coordinates registration; group clinicians do not need to create separate practices. The payer may require individual enrollment and group affiliations.

Ask for the current route

Use BCBS Massachusetts provider contacts to ask Network Management/Credentialing for the current first-time nonparticipating professional-provider route. The listed number is 800-316-2583. Explain that you want to remain out of network. This contact appears under contracting; asking for directions does not mean you should sign a network contract. Ask which form or team creates your practice record under its tax ID, what each rendering clinician needs, and how the payer will confirm the record and group affiliations are active. Provider Central access and electronic claims enrollment are separate from the provider record. Do not use specialty-specific Medicare courtesy-number instructions as the route for a therapy practice. Follow the payer’s current instructions for a new record, clinician addition, or update. Ask about unclear fields or attestations before submitting. Keep the submission confirmation and any case number, then check your pending registration. A receipt or portal login does not establish activation. When the payer confirms the practice record and required clinician affiliations are active, keep the approval and related documents, then send the confirmation to Thrizer Support and review the next steps. Support reviews affected claims for possible resubmission; do not duplicate pending claims solely because registration became active.
For BCBS claims through Thrizer, any reimbursement goes to the client. If an application appears to require payment to your practice or assignment of the client’s reimbursement, ask the payer how to register for member reimbursement before continuing. Registration does not guarantee claim approval or reimbursement.

Need help with the next step?

If the payer requests a W-9 or paper claim, see what Thrizer can provide. If the payer has not confirmed activation, follow its status-check instructions. See what to do while registration is pending. Thrizer does not complete or track registration for your practice.
