New features

Payment methods are scoped to each practice

Client payment methods are no longer one shared wallet across every clinician a client works with. Each practice now holds its own set of saved cards for a client:
  • Client Portal → Settings → Payment Methods shows a section per practice, with that practice’s cards, default, and add-card action. A practice’s payment methods can also be opened from its entry under Clinicians.
  • A card saved for one practice does not appear at, and cannot be charged by, any other practice. Clients who see multiple practices add the card separately for each one.
  • In the Clinician Portal, the client detail Payment Methods view and the Add Charge payment method picker show only the cards on file for your practice.
Who this affects: all clients with saved payment methods, and clinicians charging clients. Why it matters: a practice can only charge cards the client saved for that practice. Adding an existing Thrizer client no longer exposes cards the client saved elsewhere, so billing credentials stay isolated to each practice while profile and insurance data continue to carry over. See Adding and managing payment methods for the client view and Charging clients for the clinician view.

Updates

Existing cards carried over to connected practices

Thrizer carried cards saved before August 27, 2026 over to every practice the client was connected to at the time, so those practices can keep charging the card already on file. A carried-over card can appear under more than one practice. Deleting it removes it only from the practice it is deleted under, so clients remove it per practice. Cards added from August 27 onward belong only to the practice they are added under.

Bank accounts cannot be added as payment methods

Session charges require a saved card. Adding a client bank account as a payment method is not offered. Reimbursement bank accounts are unaffected and continue to receive reimbursements. See Reimbursement bank account.
