Overview
Thrizer is a payment platform for private-pay practices with automated out-of-network billing built in. You can collect payments, check estimated benefits, and choose Self-Pay or OON Billing when the client and session qualify. After an eligible OON Billing charge is successfully processed, Thrizer will submit the claim. Instant Reimbursement also gives eligible clients a way to pay estimated responsibility plus any applicable practice OON billing service charge, while Thrizer advances the remaining appointment price to the clinician. Why clinicians choose Thrizer
Payments and OON billing in one process
Thrizer connects the session charge with supported out-of-network claim submission. This keeps payment and claim information together instead of making claim submission a separate recurring task.Different options for different client situations
Choose Self-Pay when no claim should be submitted through Thrizer, or eligible OON Billing with an available Reimbursement Method. Discuss the client’s upfront payment and reimbursement destination before charging. Use Billing types and Reimbursement methods for the complete comparison and selection steps. Current fees are maintained in the Pricing overview.Estimated costs before care
The Benefits Widget lets prospective clients preview estimated out-of-network benefits and session costs using the practice’s configured services and rates. This can make the financial conversation clearer before a client starts care.Clinician payment is separate from insurer timing
For eligible Instant Reimbursement charges, the clinician receives the applicable session payout through Thrizer without waiting for the insurer to reimburse the claim. Insurer-driven claim outcomes do not reduce that payout; a refund your practice initiates is separate. See Clinician payout protection for the full rule and refund exception.Other OON billing services
Mentaya and Reimbursify are examples of other services clinicians may consider for out-of-network benefit or claim-submission support. Thrizer is designed for practices that want client payments and supported out-of-network billing in one place. If the main need is claim or benefit support outside Thrizer’s payment process, review Mentaya’s or Reimbursify’s current official materials directly. Because these companies control their own features, pricing, eligibility rules, and availability, this guide does not maintain a detailed feature-by-feature comparison.Questions to ask before choosing a service
- Do I want client payment and OON billing in the same system?
- What must happen before the service submits a claim?
- Does the client pay the full session fee upfront?
- Who receives any insurance reimbursement?
- Who handles denials, corrections, and insurer follow-up?
- Can prospective clients preview estimated benefits and session costs before starting care?
- What are the service’s current fees and eligibility requirements?
- Does the service support my provider type, client plan, and billing process?
When Thrizer is not the right fit
Thrizer is not a replacement for an EHR or clinical documentation system. It does not provide a generally available native EHR integration or public API. New Thrizer claim submission is tied to an eligible OON Billing charge processed through Thrizer. Thrizer does not support secondary insurance, coordination of benefits, direct ACH client payments, or client-submitted superbill claims. Review Unsupported workflows and limitations for practical alternatives. If one of these capabilities is essential to your practice, check another service’s current official materials before deciding. How to explain the difference simply
Use this when a client asks how your practice handles private-pay sessions and insurance billing:Our practice offers private-pay sessions and can help check estimated out-of-network benefits. For sessions that qualify for our out-of-network billing service, the claim is submitted after your payment goes through. Your insurer determines the final claim and reimbursement outcome.
