Why Services matter
Services give you one reusable list of what you offer and charge for. Instead of rebuilding the same details for each client or charge, you can set up a Service once, use it across your client relationships, and adjust supported terms for an individual client when needed. Each clinician has their own Services catalog. Clinicians in the same practice can offer different Services or use different standard prices. What a Service includes
A Service is an offering you can select when charging a client. It has a name and price. A billable Service also includes the information Thrizer needs for its supported insurance-claim process, such as a service code and place of service. Your catalog supplies the default terms. Those defaults can be reused when you:- set up a client relationship
- create a charge
- show Services and list prices through the benefits widget
Billable and non-billable Services
Billable means the Service can be used in Thrizer’s insurance-billing process. It does not guarantee that a particular plan covers the Service or that a claim will be approved or reimbursed. Non-billable means the Service will not be submitted to insurance. The client can still be charged for it through Self-Pay.“Non-billable” means not billed to insurance. It does not mean the Service has no price or that you cannot charge the client.
Examples
A practice might configure individual therapy, family therapy, or an intake as billable when it plans to submit a claim. It might configure a consultation, a letter or form, or another privately charged offering as non-billable when no claim will be submitted. These are illustrations, not coding or coverage rules. How you configure a Service depends on the work performed, payer requirements, and your practice’s billing decision. Marking a Service billable does not guarantee coverage or reimbursement.Catalog defaults and client-specific terms
Your catalog holds the standard version of a Service. When supported, you can set a different amount or other terms for one clinician-client relationship without changing the catalog or another client’s setup. The Primary Service is the Service that loads by default when you start a charge for that client. “Primary” describes the charging default; it does not identify the client’s primary diagnosis or treatment.Services, claims, and superbills
- An eligible billable Service can be used for OON Billing, subject to all other claim requirements.
- A non-billable Service uses Self-Pay and is excluded from insurance claims and superbills.
- Superbill generation includes only otherwise eligible Self-Pay charges for billable Services.
- A billable label alone does not make a charge eligible for a claim or superbill.
Services and the benefits widget
The benefits widget uses each displayed clinician’s own catalog and list prices. A client’s customized price is not shown publicly. Selecting a non-billable Service does not run an insurance benefit check.Related articles
