Short answer
Thrizer Pay is only available when Thrizer has enough confirmed insurance information to estimate the client’s responsibility and support the payment flow. If Thrizer Pay is not available, it does not automatically mean the client has no coverage or that something is wrong with their insurance. It usually means one or more required conditions have not been met yet, such as a completed benefit check, a met deductible, or a prior successful claim. Other payment options, such as OON Pay or Self-Pay, may still be available depending on the client’s situation. Why would Thrizer Pay not show as an option?
Thrizer Pay may not be available if the client’s insurance information is incomplete, their deductible has not been met, or Thrizer has not yet confirmed enough claim history to support Thrizer Pay. Thrizer Pay requires more confirmation than other payment types because the client pays an estimated responsibility upfront, while Thrizer advances the remaining portion of the clinician’s session fee. Insurance reimbursement is then routed to Thrizer, not directly to the client. Because this workflow depends on insurance information, Thrizer Pay is only available when the required eligibility conditions are met. What conditions are required for Thrizer Pay?
Thrizer Pay generally requires all of the following:- The client has primary insurance on file
- A benefit check has been completed
- The client’s deductible has been met
- At least one successful claim has already been processed
- Thrizer has enough information to estimate the client’s responsibility
Why does Thrizer need a prior successful claim?
Thrizer Pay depends on knowing how the client’s insurance actually processes claims. Before a claim is processed, some values are still estimates. After a successful claim, Thrizer has more information about the insurer’s actual behavior, including how the plan handles allowed amounts and coinsurance. This helps Thrizer estimate the client’s responsibility more reliably for future sessions. If that claim history does not exist yet, Thrizer Pay may not be available.Does an unavailable Thrizer Pay option mean insurance was denied?
No. Thrizer Pay being unavailable does not necessarily mean insurance was denied, coverage is missing, or reimbursement is impossible. For example, Thrizer Pay may be unavailable because:- the deductible has not been met
- a benefit check is still missing or incomplete
- the insurance plan did not return enough information automatically
- a prior claim has not been processed yet
- reimbursement behavior has been inconsistent
What if the benefit check failed or returned incomplete information?
A failed or incomplete benefit check is not the same as a coverage denial. It usually means Thrizer does not yet have enough information to safely interpret the client’s benefits. Common reasons include:- the client’s insurance details do not exactly match insurer records
- the insurer returned only partial information
- behavioral health benefits are managed separately
- out-of-network details were not available digitally
- manual phone verification is required
What payment options may still be available?
If Thrizer Pay is not available, other payment options may still be available. OON Pay may be available when a completed benefit check exists. With OON Pay, the client pays the full session fee upfront, Thrizer submits the claim, and any reimbursement is returned to the client. Self-Pay remains available without a benefit check. With Self-Pay, the client pays the full session fee and no insurance claim is submitted through Thrizer. Can Thrizer Pay become available later?
Yes. Thrizer Pay may become available later if the required conditions are met. For example, it may become available after:- a benefit check is completed
- the client’s deductible is met
- a successful claim is processed
- Thrizer has enough confirmed information to estimate the client’s responsibility
Who determines the final insurance outcome?
The insurance carrier determines final claim approval, reimbursement amount, deductible application, and coverage outcome. Thrizer helps facilitate payments and claim submission, but Thrizer does not guarantee reimbursement, claim approval, final cost, or claim timing.Related articles
